 Statement

Mr. Kuo-Wei Wu Born in Taiwan in 1952, Mr. Wu received his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Tunghai University. Later in 1981, he earned a master degree from University of Cincinnati and in 1982, a master degree from Department of Computer Science, Columbia University in the United States.

He joined as a member of the faculty of Kentucky Wesleyan College from 1982 to 1984. In 1984, he joined the Benchmarking Group to develop Scientific Library at Cray Research, Inc. from 1984 to 1986, the Compiler Group to develop compiler algorithm and Fortran Library at Multiflow Computer Corporation from 1986 to 1987, and return to Marketing Supporting Division to work with Architecture Development, Performance Evaluation, and Competitive Analysis at Cray Research from 1987 to 1990. From 1990 to 1999, He was the Deputy Director of National Center for High Performance Computing in Taiwan. He worked on strategic planning and operation for the Center. During the period, he and many supercomputer pioneers in Asia Pacific to initial a series of international supercomputer and internet conference and run the first conference in Taipei.

He also work with Department of Education to develop Taiwan Academic Networking (TANET) from 1990 (one of the very early Academic networking in Asia Pacific), participate National Information Infrastructure for Taiwan to provide knowledge, technology, and suggestions. Mr. Wu began to participate Internet Community - APRICOT, APNG, APNIC in Asia Pacific from 1995. He is a member of ISOC from 1996, worked with the committee of APTLD since 1998. He participated IANA, ccTLD, ICANN, CDNC, MDNC for TWNIC (Taiwan Network Information Center). He worked with TWNIC to invite people from ICANN, APNIC, CNNIC, HKNIC, MONIC, JPNIC, KRNIC to the seminars and meetings in Taiwan. He served as an EC member of APNIC since 1999, and always available to serve for APNIC members to input comments in the EC meeting in APNIC.
