Nominator statement

Mr Vinh Ngo has strong involvement with the Internet community for the last 9 years. He is a member of APNIC since 1998. He was elected to the APNIC EC since 2003. He has been serving APNIC for 4 years and still working with APNIC. Mr Ngo is very energetic; he has hands on experienced with theory, research, technical deployment and IT business management. Apart from his full time job as "National Manager Network/Security Engineer CSC Australia". He is a Scout master, a business entrepreneur and a charity worker.

Mr Ngo has 18 years experienced in the IT industry his experienced involved:

Mr Ngo graduated from Curtin University in Australia in 1992 with a degree Bachelor of Computer Science, major in Network and Operating System.

Prior to his graduation Mr Ngo joined the department of Geophysics as a researcher applied computing to Oil and Gas explorations, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).

His career in Curtin spanned for four years, enable him to complete his research and present his paper (Applied computing to Seismic modeling) at IASTED (The International Association of Science and Technology for Development) in July 1995 Colombo Sri Lanka. Having gaining experience and to play key roll in the development of IT technology in the field of Geophysics at both theory and technical level.

Mr Ngo then moves on to become National IT manager for Commerce Australia Pty Ltd in the Internet Services provider in 1995. Mr Ngo managed the ISP business with offices in every major city in Australia. Again, the new roll provides Mr Ngo a wealth of experienced in company management and technical development of the Internet community. In his new roll Mr Ngo begin his active involvement with APNIC.

After four years working for Commerce Australia Mr Ngo moved on to Sydney (1999) to accept a new roll as General Manager for Legall Pty Ltd which has offices in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore. For many years he helped to shape the Internet business of Australia. He worked with MCI-WorldCom, SingTel, and Telstra as wholesaler.

Mr Ngo worked as National Manager Network Security for CSC Australia. He has dealing experienced in Financial, Banking, Sate/Federal government sector clients and multi national companies i.e.: BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, AMP, Allianz, Xstrata, Maybank, Nortel etc... He is responsible for design and implementation of Security design for clients in (Japan, Singapore, Malaysia etc) from regional to global implementation. Mr Ngo work in the GIS Global Infrastructure Services team. He manages the strategic operation of Network Security, which include business relation with Vendor and customers. One of Mr Ngo's key strength of his role is to provide our clients a point of escalation to CSC operations.

In 2003, he was elected as the Executive Council of APNIC at the APRICOT conference in Malaysia. Mr Ngo was elected to the Executive Council of the APNIC. Mr Ngo was involved in the UN-WSIS workshop in Geneva June 2005, Prepcom-3 Geneva in June and Sept 2005 and finally the UN World Summit on Information Society at Tunis Nov 2005. IGF in Athens Greece.
