Protection of historical Internet resource registrations

On 14 December 2004, APNIC implemented a policy to protect the registrations of historical Internet resources in the APNIC Whois Database.

On 14 December 2004, APNIC implemented a policy to protect the registrations of historical Internet resources in the APNIC Whois Database.

APNIC has now protected all registrations of historical resources with the APNIC-HM maintainer, a practice consistent with the management of current resources.

To ensure integrity of information, APNIC will not update historical information in the APNIC Whois Database until the resource holder demonstrates the organization's right to the resources and enters a formal agreement with APNIC either as a Member or Non-Member account holder.

APNIC Members will not be subject to any additional fees to maintain historical resources. APNIC Non-Member account holders wishing to update resource records will be subject to an annual US 100 account fee for all historical resources that are managed under their account name.

This new policy only applies if resource holders wish to update their resource registration in the APNIC Whois Database. The policy does not prevent resource holders from continuing to use their historical resources.
