The Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) and the Beijing Internet Institute (BII) (represented by the IPv6 Summit China) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 15 April 2008 to mutually cooperate in the advancement and deployment of IPv6 in China and the Asia Pacific region.

The Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) and the Beijing Internet Institute (BII) (represented by the IPv6 Summit China) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 15 April 2008 to mutually cooperate in the advancement and deployment of IPv6 in China and the Asia Pacific region.

Both parties intend to cooperate by:

• Promoting infrastructure development and business in the region
• Promoting a shared sense of urgency about IPv4 address exhaustion
• Exchanging information and materials
• Supporting cooperative research
• Rendering mutual assistance where required

Paul Wilson, Director General of APNIC, commented on the signing, saying "APNIC is very pleased to be able to collaborate on the important work of BII as represented by the IPv6 Summit China. Such mutual cooperation in advancing and deploying IPv6 in China and the rest of the Asia Pacific region is critical in the face of IPv4 exhaustion".
