APNIC is attending the "APT Meeting on e-Applications / e-Governance" in Bangkok, Thailand from 28-30 September 2010. The Asia Pacific Telecommunity (APT) is an intergovernmental organization that operates in conjunction with the telecommunication industry.

The objective of the meeting is to promote e-applications, including e-government, to encourage the use of broadband and ICT, and to advance the development and use of e-enabled services in the AP regions.

Ms Miwa Fujii, APNIC Senior IPv6 Program Specialist, will deliver a presentation entitled, "e-Government Services: Transition to IPv6".

e-Government is a dynamic process. e-Government systems inevitably face challenges and opportunities that are complicated by constant innovation in technologies, applications, products, and processes. Preparing a smooth transition to IPv6 will help to maintain reachability for e-Government services for users with IPv6 addresses.

Ms Fujii will recommend that APT member economies encourage active participation by all major Internet stakeholders, to assist the smooth transition to IPv6.
