ICANN 2011 Nominating Committee Announces Selections

The 2011 ICANN Nominating Committee (NomCom) has completed its selections for eight leadership positions within ICANN.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) Nominating Committee (NomCom) has completed its selections for eight leadership positions within the ICANN structure.

APNIC is pleased to congratulate the following candidates from the Asia Pacific region on their appointments.

Judith Duavit Vazquez, Philippines, has been appointed to the Board of Directors. Ms Vazquez is the Founder and Chairman of PHCOLO Inc., the Philippines telecommunications cross connection site.

Dr Hong Xue, China, has been appointed to the Country Code Names Supporting Organisation (ccNSO) Council. Dr Xue is a Professor of Law and the Director of the Institute for Internet Policy and Law at Beijing Normal University.

Rinalia Abdul Rahim, Malaysia, has been appointed to the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC). Ms Rahim is the Founder and Managing Director of Compass Rose Snd Bhd, providing strategic advice and solutions toward enhancing organizational performance, learning, and impact.

The NomCom's Chair, Adam Peake, said "The NomCom had to choose from a very strong applicant pool, with many highly qualified candidates for every position, including a record number of female applicants."
