At APNIC 31, we previewed a new look for APNIC that reflects the current work at this turning point across the regional and global Internet community.

Last night Paul Wilson, APNIC Director General, launched the new APNIC Corporate Identity at the Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF).

Excerpt from Paul Wilson's speech

"We've worked with many of you over the years on promoting the development and success of the Internet in this region. APNIC has grown from the smallest registry, at a time when China had fewer addresses than several US universities, to a time when this region accounts for more than half of the global growth (and address usage) of the Internet. I think we can all take credit for that achievement.

Change is continual, but at this particular time there are factors coming together which spell a turning point: IPv6, new gTLDs and IDNs, a new era for IGF, and we hope, for multistakeholderism on the Internet.

So it's time for a change at APNIC as well, and after more than 10 years with our old logo, we've decided on our own transition, to this whole new logo and image. We want to be seen as dynamic, including our core values of Community, Asia Pacific, and of course IPv6, in there as well.

The most important aspect of our new look is that it is dynamic. As some of you have seen already, each of the business cards from APNIC staff have a different color and icon. There are over 50 icons, so hundreds of combinations, and in the interests of APNIC budgeting I won't encourage you to collect the set.

We see our diversity - the multi-dimensional, multi-cultural, multi-stakeholder nature of APNIC - as our strength, and we wanted to express and celebrate that."
