APNIC is participating in NetHui 2013, which is New Zealand's multistakeholder conference on Internet governance and policy issues. The theme for this year's NetHui is "The Power of the Open Internet". NetHui 2013 is being held from 8 to 10 July in Wellington, New Zealand.

APNIC actively supports all Internet Governance Forum (IGF) initiatives such as NetHui 2013, and encourages participation at a national, regional, and global level. APNIC believes the IGF and the supporting regional and local events are the best options available for open, non-decisional multistakeholder discussions. APNIC contributes to these discussions and uses these forums as an opportunity to support those initiatives that are aligned with APNIC's mission to support a stable, open Internet for everyone.

APNIC will participate in the upcoming Asia Pacific Regional IGF in Seoul, South Korea and the 8th global IGF in Bali, Indonesia.

APNIC staff will take part in the following sessions during the event.

InTAC: Long term thinking, short term solution

InTAC is a full-day conference where participants will discuss the direction of the New Zealand Internet in the short and long term. Geoff Huston, APNIC's Chief Scientist, will contribute to this forum. InTAC will be held on Monday, 8 July from 09:00 (UTC +12).

The State of Internet Research in New Zealand

This is a full-day session on Internet research from the perspective of researchers from all stakeholder groups. Sylvia Cadena, APNIC's Community Grants and Awards Specialist (ISIF Asia), will contribute as a panellist. This session will be held on Monday, 8 July from 09:00 (UTC +12).

Pacific Communities Online

This session will explore what Pacific online content exists and related issues such as language and culture, and how an open Internet can support Pacific communities. Elly Tawhai, APNIC's Senior Internet Resource Analyst and Pacific Liaison, will co-facilitate this session. Pacific Communities Online will be held on Tuesday, 9 July at 14:35 (UTC +12).

Vision 2025: The Internet Era Economy

This session will cover New Zealand's place in the international Internet-related economy. Geoff Huston will contribute as a panellist. This session will be streamed live on Wednesday, 10 July from 16:15 (UTC +12).

NetHui and the Big Picture

During this session, participants will discuss how NetHui fits into international Internet governance. NetHui was established taking inspiration from the global Internet Governance Forum. NetHui is recognized as New Zealand's IGF, and this year InternetNZ will have the opportunity to bring views expressed at NetHui to the wider, global dialogue.
